# Enterprise key: bind to a server, free dev instances, self-serve
transfer, shorter license

prod + one dev, or several environments), which broke seat accounting
and made licensing ambiguous. This PR ties each enterprise key to a
**single server**, while giving customers a legitimate, self-serve way
to run a **free development instance** and to **move their key** when
they replace a server.
## Product behavior
### 1. Enterprise key is bound to one server
- The first server to validate an enterprise key **claims** it
(claim-on-first-use). From then on, that key is bound to that one server
(until unbound - see 3.).
- Any other instance that presents the **same key from a different
server is hard-rejected**: it does not receive a license, so enterprise
features stay off there.
- Each instance has a stable server identifier. If one isn't set, the
instance generates and persists one automatically on first validation
(in keyValuePair table), so existing customers generally don't need to
do anything (unless they have disabled config variables in db then they
should add it to .env).
### 2. Free development instance
- Every enterprise subscription gets **one free, non-billable
development instance** in addition to its production instance.
- An instance registers as development by declaring its instance type as
`development` (done by default when validating the enterprise key, then
can be toggled from UI or by updating value in keyValuePair table).
- The free dev slot is only granted while there is an **active
production instance** on the same subscription (so it's a perk for
paying customers, not a way to run for free).
- Only **one** dev instance can be active at a time per subscription,
and it is **not counted as a billable seat**.
### 3. Self-serve unbind / rebind (transfer)
- Admins can **release** the binding from the enterprise settings, which
frees the key so it can be **claimed by a new server**.

30. The daily background refresh keeps healthy instances licensed

- Issuing a new license is capped at **twice per 24h, independently for
production and for development**. This tolerates the normal daily
refresh (including small drift between runs) while blocking bursts of

the current one keeps working until it expires; the manual "refresh"
button just reports that the daily limit was reached.
## What changes for existing self-hosted customers
**If you run a single production instance with one enterprise key:**
nothing to do. On the next validation your instance reports its server
identifier, claims the binding, and keeps working.
**If you reuse one key across several instances (e.g. prod + dev, or
multiple environments):** only the **first** instance to validate keeps
its license. The others will **lose enterprise features**. To migrate:
- Keep your production instance as-is (it claims the binding).
- For a secondary/testing box, mark it as a **development instance**
(set the instance type to `development`) to use the free dev slot — no
extra cost.
- If you genuinely need multiple production instances, you'll need
**separate subscriptions/keys** for each.
**If you're replacing a server (decommissioning + rebuilding):**
- **Release** the binding from enterprise settings on the old instance,
then start the new one — it will claim the key automatically.
- If the old server is already gone, just wait for the **14-day
auto-release**, or contact support.
**Legacy instances that can't persist a server identifier
automatically:** set the server identifier explicitly in your
environment configuration (the instance logs a message telling you to do
so).
**Offline instances:** because licenses now last 7 days, an instance
that can't reach our licensing endpoint for more than a week will lose

Today user-authored function responses are served same-site with the
Twenty app, so the response-header allow-list is restricted to 5 safe
headers and request headers are limited to a per-function allow-list.
Serving from an origin that shares nothing with `*.twenty.com` removes
that constraint safely — the same "user content domain" pattern as
GitHub (`*.githubusercontent.com`) and CodeSandbox (`*.csb.app`).

**Routing**
- The **root-path → `/s` rewrite happens at the nginx ingress**, not in
app code. The existing `api-ingress.yaml` already rewrites root paths
onto `/s` (host-agnostically) when the edge sets
`X-Twenty-Public-Domain: true`, so `*.withtwenty.com` and registered
custom public domains are handled by the same mechanism. (An earlier
in-app middleware was removed as a redundant, wrong-layer duplicate.)
- `WorkspaceDomainsService.resolveWorkspaceAndPublicDomain` recognizes
`*.` subdomains, resolves the workspace by subdomain, and returns
`isIsolatedOrigin`. Explicitly registered public-domain rows still take
precedence and keep their application scoping. The ingress preserves the
`Host` header, so this resolution still fires.
**Headers (server)**
- Isolated origin → all response headers pass through and all request
headers are forwarded. Same-site `/s/` keeps the strict allow-lists.

Marketing/campaign emails on top of the emailing-domain (SES) feature:
send a broadcast to a hand-picked list, with per-customer-domain
unsubscribe links and opt-out-only **unsubscribe topics**.
## Model
Standard objects (workspace schema, flat-metadata):
- `messageCampaign` — a campaign send (subject, body template, from
address, status, list, optional unsubscribe topic).
- `messageList` + `messageListMember` — the hand-picked audience (person
↔ list join). A campaign's recipients are its list's members; everyone
is sendable unless suppressed.
Core entities (`core` schema, workspace-scoped — readable by the public
unsubscribe flow without a workspace context):
- `unsubscribeTopic` — an opt-out-only category (name, description,
visibility). There is no opt-in subscription state.
- `messageSuppression` — the single consent store: a row with
`unsubscribeTopicId` NULL is a global block; a row with an
`unsubscribeTopicId` and reason `UNSUBSCRIBE` is a per-topic opt-out.
Two partial unique indexes dedupe global vs per-topic rows (Postgres
treats NULLs as distinct).
- `emailingDomain` — the workspace's SES sending domain,
auto-provisioned when an email channel is added (and cleaned up when its
last channel is removed), with verification status + DNS records.
Campaign messages reuse the existing `message` / `messageThread` /
`messageParticipant` model — one outbound `message` per recipient with a
`deliveryStatus` state machine.
## Sending
- `sendMessageCampaign` resolves the audience **under the caller's
permissions**, creates the campaign, and enqueues a single fan-out job
(the request never materializes per-recipient rows or jobs).
- The fan-out job materializes one QUEUED message per recipient
(deterministic ids → idempotent re-runs, reconciles crash-orphaned rows)
and fans out per-recipient send jobs carrying **only ids**.
- Each send job renders per-recipient `{{variable}}` merge fields and
sends via `EmailingDomainSenderService`, which applies suppression
(global + per-topic) and the unsubscribe footer/headers. Suppressed
recipients are recorded `SKIPPED`.
- The campaign finalizes `SENT`, or `SENT_WITH_ERRORS` if any recipient
terminally failed.
- `previewMessageCampaignAudience` returns a pre-send breakdown (total /
without-email / duplicate / globally-unsubscribed / topic-unsubscribed /
sendable), shown as a hint under the composer pickers.
## Unsubscribe
- Encrypted (AES-256-GCM) token carrying workspaceId, address, optional
`unsubscribeTopicId`, `issuedAt`, and a `preview` flag.
- One-click POST (RFC 8058) + `mailto:` — topic-scoped when the token
carries a topic, global otherwise.
- Preferences page: a checkbox per visible topic (checked = still
receiving); submitting creates per-topic opt-outs for unchecked topics
and lifts re-checked ones (UNSUBSCRIBE only — never
`BOUNCE`/`COMPLAINT`, never a global block).
- A **Preview** action in settings opens the live page via a
preview-claim token; opt-out POSTs are no-ops for preview tokens, so
previewing never mutates state.
- SES webhooks: inbound unsubscribe + outbound bounce/complaint →
suppression (race-safe against at-least-once delivery, with reason
escalation that never downgrades).
- Per-customer unsubscribe hostname (Cloudflare DNS); sends are gated on
it being active, except in LOG/demo mode.
## Architecture
Campaign orchestration, suppression, the sender, the unsubscribe
controller, and the SES webhook handlers live in `src/modules/emailing`
+ `src/modules/messaging-webhooks` (the workspace-feature layer).
`core-modules/emailing-domain` keeps the SES driver, domain
provisioning, the `unsubscribeTopic` / `messageSuppression` core
entities, and the unsubscribe token/hostname plumbing. Domain creation
is validated (`CreateEmailingDomainInput` — domain-format regex,
lowercased) before any value reaches SES or the unsubscribe hostname.
## Frontend
- Campaign composer side panel (from / list / unsubscribe topic /
subject / body) with a live audience-preview hint.
- Email settings: email channels each showing their auto-provisioned
sending domain in a single section (status + DNS records + a "Check
verification" action), plus an **Unsubscribe Topics** section to
create/manage topics and preview the recipient page. A demo-mode banner
is shown when the LOG driver is active.

## Summary
- Add email forwarding as a new message channel type, allowing users to
forward emails from addresses like `support@mycompany.com` into Twenty
- Inbound emails arrive via S3 (SES → S3 bucket), are polled by a cron
job, parsed, routed to the correct workspace/channel, and persisted as
messages
- Dedicated settings page at `/settings/accounts/new-email-forwarding`
where users provide their source email handle and receive a unique
forwarding address
- Forwarding channels bypass the IMAP/mailbox sync state machine — they
skip cron-driven sync, relaunch, and message-list-fetch lifecycle stages
- Forwarding address section shown at the top of the Emails settings
page so users can find/copy their addresses after initial setup
- Tab names for forwarding channels display the user-provided handle
(e.g. `support@mycompany.com`) instead of the internal routing address
- Shared utilities extracted from IMAP driver: `extractThreadId`,
`extractParticipants`, `extractAddresses` to avoid code duplication
- Uses the existing S3 bucket (STORAGE_S3_*) with `inbound-email/`
prefix — no separate bucket needed
- Feature gated behind `isEmailForwardingEnabled` client config

## Summary
- Add `WORKSPACE_SCHEMA_DDL_LOCKED` env-only boolean config variable
that blocks all workspace schema DDL changes when set to `true`. This is
intended for hot upgrades where logical replication cannot handle DDL
changes. Enforced at two chokepoints:
- `WorkspaceMigrationRunnerService.run` — blocks all metadata-driven DDL
(object/field/index CRUD, app sync/uninstall, standard app sync, upgrade
commands)
- `WorkspaceDataSourceService.createWorkspaceDBSchema` /
`deleteWorkspaceDBSchema` — blocks workspace creation (sign-up) and hard
deletion. Uses a dedicated `WorkspaceDataSourceException` (not
ForbiddenException)
- Add maintenance mode feature with Admin Panel UI and user-facing
banner:
- **Backend**: `MaintenanceModeService` stores maintenance window
(startAt, endAt, optional link) in `core.keyValuePair` as
`CONFIG_VARIABLE`. Validates endAt > startAt. Uses `GraphQLISODateTime`
scalar for date fields. Exposed via `clientConfig` REST endpoint and
admin GraphQL mutations (`setMaintenanceMode`, `clearMaintenanceMode`)
- **Admin Panel**: New "Maintenance Mode" section in Health tab with UTC

These two features are **independent** — the DDL lock is controlled via
env var for operational use, while maintenance mode is a UI notification
mechanism controlled from the admin panel.
## Summary
- Migrates `LogicFunctionModule`, `CodeInterpreterModule`, and
`CaptchaModule` from the `forRootAsync` + injection token pattern to the
`DriverFactoryBase` lazy-loading pattern (matching `EmailModule` and
`FileStorageModule`)
- Fixes#18724 where `LOGIC_FUNCTION_TYPE` was not respected in worker
processes because the driver was created at module boot time before the
DB config cache was loaded
- Removes `isEnvOnly` from `LOGIC_FUNCTION_TYPE`,

Each migrated module now uses a `DriverFactory` (extending
`DriverFactoryBase`) instead of a module-level async factory + Symbol
injection token:
1. **Lazy creation**: `getCurrentDriver()` creates the driver on first
call, after `DatabaseConfigDriver.onModuleInit()` has loaded the DB
cache
2. **Auto-recreation**: If config changes in the DB, the next
`getCurrentDriver()` call detects the key mismatch and creates a new
driver instance
3. **Unified config**: Both server and worker read from the same
database — driver config only needs to be set once

## Summary
Removes the `recoil` dependency entirely from `package.json` and
`twenty-front/package.json`, completing the migration to Jotai as the
sole state management library.
Removes all Recoil infrastructure: `RecoilRoot` wrapper from `App.tsx`
and test decorators, `RecoilDebugObserver`, Recoil-specific ESLint rules
(`use-getLoadable-and-getValue-to-get-atoms`,
`useRecoilCallback-has-dependency-array`), and legacy Recoil utility
hooks/types (`useRecoilComponentState`, `useRecoilComponentValue`,
`createComponentState`, `createFamilyState`, `getSnapshotValue`,
`cookieStorageEffect`, `localStorageEffect`, etc.).
Renames all `V2`-suffixed Jotai state files and types to their canonical
names (e.g., `ComponentStateV2` -> `ComponentState`,
`agentChatInputStateV2` -> `agentChatInputState`, `SelectorCallbacksV2`
-> `SelectorCallbacks`), and removes the now-redundant V1 counterparts.
Updates ~433 files across the codebase to use the renamed Jotai imports,

### Approach
We introduce a **V2 state management layer** backed by Jotai that
mirrors the existing Recoil API, enabling component-by-component
migration without a big-bang rewrite.
#### V2 API (Jotai-backed, Recoil-ergonomic)
- `createStateV2` / `createFamilyStateV2` — drop-in replacements for
`createState` / `createFamilyState`, returning wrapper types over Jotai
atoms
- `useRecoilValueV2`, `useRecoilStateV2`, `useFamilyRecoilValueV2`, etc.
— thin wrappers around Jotai's `useAtomValue` / `useAtom` / `useSetAtom`
- A shared `jotaiStore` (via `createStore()`) passed to a
`<JotaiProvider>` wrapping `<RecoilRoot>`, also accessible imperatively
for dual-writes
#### Dual-write bridge for progressive migration
For state shared between migrated and non-migrated components, we use
**dual-write**: writers update both the Recoil atom and the Jotai V2
atom (via `jotaiStore.set()`). This avoids sync components or extra
subscriptions.
Write sites updated: `useUpsertRecordsInStore`, `useSetRecordTableData`,
`ListenRecordUpdatesEffect`, `RecordShowEffect`,
`useLoadRecordIndexStates`, `useUpdateObjectViewOptions`.
#### First migration: ChipFieldDisplay render path
- `useChipFieldDisplay` → reads `recordStoreFamilyStateV2` via
`useFamilyRecoilValueV2` (was `useRecoilValue(recordStoreFamilyState)`)
- `RecordChip` → reads `recordIndexOpenRecordInStateV2` via
`useRecoilValueV2` (was `useRecoilValue(recordIndexOpenRecordInState)`)
- `Avatar` (twenty-ui) and event handlers (`useOpenRecordInCommandMenu`)
left on Recoil — not on the render path / in a different package
#### Pattern for migrating additional state
1. Create V2 atom: `createStateV2` or `createFamilyStateV2`
2. Add `jotaiStore.set(v2Atom, value)` at each write site
3. Switch readers to `useRecoilValueV2(v2Atom)`
4. Once all readers are migrated, remove the Recoil atom and dual-writes
#### Why not jotai-recoil-adapter?

[jotai-recoil-adapter](https://github.com/clockelliptic/jotai-recoil-adapter)
— not production-ready (21 open issues, no React 19, forces providerless
mode, missing types). We built a purpose-built thin layer instead.
## Reduce type leakage between GraphQL schemas
### Why
Twenty runs two separate GraphQL schemas: **core** and **metadata**.
NestJS's `@nestjs/graphql` uses a global `TypeMetadataStorage` that
accumulates all decorated types across all modules. When each schema is
built, every registered type leaks into both schemas regardless of which
module it belongs to.
This means the core schema's generated TypeScript
(`generated/graphql.ts`) contained ~2,700 lines of types that only
belong to the metadata schema (and vice versa). This creates confusion
about type ownership, inflates generated code, and makes it harder to
reason about which API surface each schema actually exposes.
### How
**1. Patch `@nestjs/graphql` to support schema-scoped type resolution**
- **(Already done)** Added a `resolverSchemaScope` option to
`GqlModuleOptions`, allowing each schema to declare a scope (e.g.
`'metadata'`)
- `ResolversExplorerService` now filters resolvers by a
`RESOLVER_SCHEMA_SCOPE` metadata key, so each schema only sees its own
resolvers
- `GraphQLSchemaFactory` now performs a **reachability walk**
(`computeReachableTypes`) starting from scoped resolver return types and
arguments, only including types that are transitively referenced —
handling unions, interfaces, and prototype chains
- Type definition storage and orphaned reference registry are cleared
between schema builds to prevent cross-contamination
**2. Register `ClientConfig` as orphaned type in metadata schema**
Since `ClientConfig` is needed in the metadata schema but not directly
returned by a resolver, it's explicitly declared via
`buildSchemaOptions.orphanedTypes`.
**3. Regenerate frontend types and fix imports**
- `generated/graphql.ts` shrank by ~2,700 lines (types moved to where
they belong)
- `generated-metadata/graphql.ts` gained types like `ClientConfig` that
were previously missing
- ~500 frontend files updated to import from the correct generated file
## Summary
Fixes#17101
When self-hosting TwentyCRM, users can now set workspace custom domains
without requiring CLOUDFLARE_API_KEY to be configured. This enables
manual DNS configuration for those not using Cloudflare.
## Changes
- Added isCloudflareConfigured method to DnsManagerService
- Modified all Cloudflare-dependent methods to gracefully handle missing
configuration
- Added getManualDnsRecords helper that provides DNS configuration
instructions when Cloudflare is not available
- isHostnameWorking returns true in manual mode, allowing the domain to
be saved and enabled
- Added comprehensive tests for non-Cloudflare scenarios
## Behavior
When CLOUDFLARE_API_KEY is set: Works exactly as before with automatic
Cloudflare provisioning
When CLOUDFLARE_API_KEY is NOT set:
- Custom domain can be saved to the database
- User receives manual DNS configuration instructions
- Domain is marked as working, user is responsible for external DNS and
TLS configuration
## Testing
Added tests covering non-Cloudflare scenarios. Full test suite requires
Docker which was not run locally.

This PR enforces the use of `@/` alias for imports instead of relative
parent imports (`../`).
## Changes
### ESLint Configuration
- Added `no-restricted-imports` pattern in `eslint.config.react.mjs` to
block `../*` imports with the message "Relative parent imports are not
allowed. Use @/ alias instead."
- Removed the non-working `import/no-relative-parent-imports` rule
(doesn't work properly in ESLint flat config)
### VS Code Settings
- Added `javascript.preferences.importModuleSpecifier: non-relative` to
`.vscode/settings.json` (TypeScript setting was already there)
### Code Fixes
- Fixed **941 relative parent imports** across **706 files** in
`packages/twenty-front`
- All `../` imports converted to use `@/` alias
## Why
- Consistent import style across the codebase
- Easier to move files without breaking imports
- Better IDE support for auto-imports

Implementation is very simple
Established authentication dynamic is intercepted at
getAuthTokensFromLoginToken. If 2FA is required, a pattern similar to
EmailVerification is executed. That is, getAuthTokensFromLoginToken
mutation fails with either of the following errors:
1. TWO_FACTOR_AUTHENTICATION_VERIFICATION_REQUIRED
2. TWO_FACTOR_AUTHENTICATION_PROVISION_REQUIRED
UI knows how to respond accordingly.
2FA provisioning occurs at the 2FA resolver.
2FA verification, currently only OTP, is handled by auth.resolver's
getAuthTokensFromOTP

### Added IMAP integration
This PR adds support for connecting email accounts via IMAP protocol,
allowing users to sync their emails without OAuth.
#### DB Changes:
- Added customConnectionParams and connectionType fields to
ConnectedAccountWorkspaceEntity

- Added settings pages for creating and editing IMAP connections with
proper validation and connection testing.
- Implemented reconnection flows for handling permission issues.

## Problem resolution
supportDriver was typed as a string where we could have used
SupportDriver type. I'm exposing it in the graphql generated files to
re-use in the front so this issue cannot happen anymore
Fixes an infinite loop introduced by #12371
An infinite loop was triggered when there was an error when fetching the
client config.
Cause of the bug: `isLoadedOnce` wasn't set to true when catching an
error in `useClientConfig`.
This effect then created an infinite loop inside
`ClientConfigProviderEffect` because `fetchClientConfig` updated
`clientConfigApiStatus.isLoading` but not `isLoadedOnce`.
