## Recoil → Jotai progressive migration: infrastructure +
ChipFieldDisplay
### Benchmark
In the beginning, there was no hope:
<img width="1180" height="948" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/f8635991-52e6-4958-8240-6ba7214132b2"
/>
Then the hope was reborn
<img width="2070" height="948" alt="image"
src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/be1182b9-1c8d-4fdc-ab4c-1484ad74449d"
/>
### Approach
We introduce a **V2 state management layer** backed by Jotai that
mirrors the existing Recoil API, enabling component-by-component
migration without a big-bang rewrite.
#### V2 API (Jotai-backed, Recoil-ergonomic)
- `createStateV2` / `createFamilyStateV2` — drop-in replacements for
`createState` / `createFamilyState`, returning wrapper types over Jotai
atoms
- `useRecoilValueV2`, `useRecoilStateV2`, `useFamilyRecoilValueV2`, etc.
— thin wrappers around Jotai's `useAtomValue` / `useAtom` / `useSetAtom`
- A shared `jotaiStore` (via `createStore()`) passed to a
`<JotaiProvider>` wrapping `<RecoilRoot>`, also accessible imperatively
for dual-writes
#### Dual-write bridge for progressive migration
For state shared between migrated and non-migrated components, we use
**dual-write**: writers update both the Recoil atom and the Jotai V2
atom (via `jotaiStore.set()`). This avoids sync components or extra
subscriptions.
Write sites updated: `useUpsertRecordsInStore`, `useSetRecordTableData`,
`ListenRecordUpdatesEffect`, `RecordShowEffect`,
`useLoadRecordIndexStates`, `useUpdateObjectViewOptions`.
#### First migration: ChipFieldDisplay render path
- `useChipFieldDisplay` → reads `recordStoreFamilyStateV2` via
`useFamilyRecoilValueV2` (was `useRecoilValue(recordStoreFamilyState)`)
- `RecordChip` → reads `recordIndexOpenRecordInStateV2` via
`useRecoilValueV2` (was `useRecoilValue(recordIndexOpenRecordInState)`)
- `Avatar` (twenty-ui) and event handlers (`useOpenRecordInCommandMenu`)
left on Recoil — not on the render path / in a different package
#### Pattern for migrating additional state
1. Create V2 atom: `createStateV2` or `createFamilyStateV2`
2. Add `jotaiStore.set(v2Atom, value)` at each write site
3. Switch readers to `useRecoilValueV2(v2Atom)`
4. Once all readers are migrated, remove the Recoil atom and dual-writes
#### Why not jotai-recoil-adapter?
Evaluated
[jotai-recoil-adapter](https://github.com/clockelliptic/jotai-recoil-adapter)
— not production-ready (21 open issues, no React 19, forces providerless
mode, missing types). We built a purpose-built thin layer instead.
## Summary
Adds Notion-style resizable panels for the navigation drawer (left
sidebar) and command menu (right panel).
## Behavior
- **Hover** at panel edge → resize cursor appears
- **Click** → collapse/close the panel
- **Drag** → resize the panel (5px movement threshold to distinguish
from click)
## Constraints
| Panel | Min | Max | Default | Collapse Threshold |
|-------|-----|-----|---------|-------------------|
| Navigation Drawer | 180px | 350px | 220px | 150px |
| Command Menu | 320px | 600px | 400px | 250px |
## Performance Optimizations
- **CSS variables** for smooth 60fps resize (no React re-renders during
drag)
- **Table resize observer disabled** during panel resize to prevent
expensive recalculations
- **React.memo wrapper** on page body to prevent unnecessary re-renders
## Architecture
- `useResizablePanel` hook following the same pattern as
`useResizeTableHeader`
- `ResizablePanelEdge` - resize handle positioned at panel edge
- `ResizablePanelGap` - resize handle in the gap between panels
- `cssVariableEffect` - Recoil effect to sync CSS variables with state
## Refactoring
- Split `recoil-effects.ts` into separate files in `utils/recoil/` (one
export per file)
- Persist panel widths to localStorage via existing `localStorageEffect`
## Summary
This PR adds the `lingui/no-unlocalized-strings` ESLint rule to detect
untranslated strings and fixes translation issues across multiple
components.
## Changes
### ESLint Configuration (`eslint.config.react.mjs`)
- Added comprehensive `ignore` patterns for non-translatable strings
(CSS values, HTML attributes, technical identifiers)
- Added `ignoreNames` for props that don't need translation (className,
data-*, aria-*, etc.)
- Added `ignoreFunctions` for console methods, URL APIs, and other
non-user-facing functions
- Disabled rule for debug files, storybook, and test files
### Components Fixed (~19 files)
- Object record components (field inputs, pickers, merge dialogs)
- Settings components (accounts, admin panel)
- Serverless function components
- Record table and title cell components
## Status
🚧 **Work in Progress** - ~124 files remaining to fix
This PR is being submitted as draft to allow progressive fixing of
remaining translation issues.
## Testing
- Run `npx eslint "src/**/*.tsx"` in `packages/twenty-front` to check
remaining issues

Storybook had issues. This PR intends to solve them
Main things to care :
I had to change the way the provider was given to the Calendar view. Not
sure how it may impact the final component, so if someone with some
knowledge about it could take a look that would be great
TODO:
Only one remaining test to fix : prefetch loading. Couldn't find out how
to solve this issue. When you open the story you see that the companies
are not fetched.
This PR adds a new RecordField abstraction to mimick the behavior of
RecordFilter, RecordSort and other similar concepts that allow to have
something that is not related directly to views.
It is closely following the same pattern with an Effect component to
initialize it from views and CRUD hooks to modify it.
Although for this concept we save to view fields automatically for every
modification.
This PR does not implement saving to view fields, it is just a parallel
code path that is meant to be built to see if everything behaves the
same then we'll remove the old code path at the end by saving record
fields instead of the many states for columns, fields definitions, etc.
## TODO
- [ ] add dropdown to use records from outside the context
- [x] add loader for files chip
- [x] add roleId where it's necessary
- [x] Split AvatarChip in two components. One with the icon that will
call the second with leftComponent.
- [ ] Fix tests
- [x] Fix UI regression on Search
Workflow views and versions are seed being opened by default into record
page. Issue is that:
- new views are set by default to side panel. Updated by copying the
current opensIn value to the new view
- users can still select side panel into their options. Disabling the
button.

Fixes#7929
This PR implements a system to capture and preserve the filters and
sorts when navigating from an index view to a record show page. This
information is stored in a context store component state.
This allows users to navigate between records inside the record page
while maintaining context from the index view.
Small optimization for faster loading (gaining ~80ms - average time of a
click)
It might seem a little over-engineered but there are a lot of edge cases
and I couldn't find a simpler solution
I also tried to tackle Link Chips but it's more complex so this will be
for another PR
# extracting domain emails
Added new test cases covering weird but valid email formats (plus
addressing, subdomains, international domains, etc.) to identify
potential failures in the current implementation.
Two tests with quoted local parts containing @ symbols or quotes are
marked as skipped since they're expected to fail with the current simple
string splitting approach. They are too exotic IMO, we should throw
errors.
## Next
We will monitor errors related to this and update accordingly later on.
### Note
technically, quotes are possible in RFC see

# Record Table Row Navigation
This PR improves the table accessibility by adding a row navigation and
new shortcuts to the table. Closes#896.
# Introduce focused active row states on the table
This PR implements the focused and active row states feature for the
record table, allowing users to navigate through the table with keyboard
arrows and providing visual feedback for selection.
## Implementation details:
- Added new component states to track focused and active row positions
and states.
- Implemented dedicated hooks for row state management
- Updated UI styling for active and focused rows:
- Applied blue border (Adaptive Colors Blue 3)
- Added highlight background (Accent Quaternary)
- Added styling for focused rows to clearly indicate selection state
- Added row state cleanup:
- `RecordTableDeactivateRecordTableRowEffect` component to reset states
- Added row state reset logic upon navigation
## Bug fixes
- Fixed record table unselection in the page change effect
- Fixed a hack introduced by
https://github.com/twentyhq/twenty/pull/8489 which duplicated the last
table column

## TODO
- [x] Manual migrate twenty-website twenty-ui imports
## What's next:
- Generate barrel and migration script factorization within own package
+ tests
- Refactoring using preconstruct ? TimeBox
- Lint circular dependencies
- Lint import from barrel and forbid them
### Preconstruct
We need custom rollup plugins addition, but preconstruct does not expose
its rollup configuration. It might be possible to handle this using the
babel overrides. But was a big tunnel.
We could give it a try afterwards ! ( allowing cjs interop and stuff
like that )
Stuck to vite lib app

Closes https://github.com/twentyhq/core-team-issues/issues/271
This PR
- Removes the feature flag IS_COMMAND_MENU_V2_ENABLED
- Removes all old Right drawer components
- Removes the Action menu bar
- Removes unused Copilot page
# Introduction
closes#10196
Initially fixing the `Account Owner` record field value should not be
clickable and redirects on current page bug.
This has been fixed computing whereas the current filed is a workspace
member dynamically rendering a stale Chip components instead of an
interactive one
## Refactor
Refactored the `AvatarChip` `to` props logic to be scoped to lower level
scope `Chip`.
Now we have `LinkChip` `Chip`, `LinkAvatarChip` and `AvatarChip` all
exported from twenty-ui.
The caller has to determine which one to call from the design system
## New rule regarding chip links
As discussed with @charlesBochet and @FelixMalfait
A chip link will now ***always*** have `to` defined. ( and optionally an
`onClick` ).
`ChipLinks` cannot be used as buttons anymore
## Factorization
Deleted the `RecordIndexRecordChip.tsx` file ( aka
`RecordIdentifierChip` component ) that was duplicating some logic,
refactored the `RecordChip` in order to handle what was covered by
`RecordIdentifierChip`
## Conclusion
As always any suggestions are more than welcomed ! Took few opinionated
decision/refactor regarding nested long ternaries rendering `ReactNode`
elements

- Hide open record in settings for command menu version 1 users
- Create a selector to check which version of the command menu the user
has before returning if the record should be opened in the record page
or in the side panel
Closes https://github.com/twentyhq/core-team-issues/issues/410
- Added `openRecordIn` column in the `view` entity, which is set to
`SIDE_PANEL` by default
- Created a new option inside the view option dropdown to be able to set
`openRecordIn`
- Updated all record show page openings to reflect the setting behavior
- For `workflow`, `workflowVersion` and `workflowRun` (what I call
workflow objects), we want the default view `openRecordIn` to be set to
`RECORD_PAGE`. When seeding the views for the new workspaces, we set
`openRecordIn` to `RECORD_PAGE` for workflow objects. Since the workflow
objects views `openRecordIn` will be set to the default value
`SIDE_PANEL` for the existing workspaces when the sync metadata runs, I
created a script to run in the 0.43 update to update this value.
- Updated `closeCommandMenu` because of problems introduced by the
animate presence wrapper around the command menu. We now reset the
states at the end of the animation.
Note: We want to be able to open all workflow objects pages in the side
panel, but this requires some refactoring of the workflow module. For
now @Bonapara wanted to allow the possibility to change the
`openRecordIn` setting to `SIDE_PANEL` even for the workflows even if
it's buggy and not ready for the moment. Since this is an experimental
feature, it shouldn't cause too many problems.
- Created an new component state
`isRecordEditableNameRenamingComponentState`
- Updated `useCreateNewTableRecord` to open the ShowPage on workflow
creation
- Refactored `RecordEditableName` and its components to remove the
useEffect (This was causing the recordName state to be updated after the
focus on `NavigationDrawerInput`, but we want the text so be selected
after the update).
- Introduced a new component `EditableBreadcrumbItem`
- Created an autosizing text input: This is done by a hack using a span
inside a div and the input position is set to absolute and takes the
size of the div. There are two problems that I didn't manage to fix:
If the text is too long, the title overflows, and the letter spacing is
different between the span and the input creating a small offset.

New text input component:
https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/94565546-fe2b-457d-a1d8-907007e0e2ce
Closes#7817
Added role attribute to the div element of the Chip component. This
assigns the role of "button" to the container, which is important for
accessibility. It indicates that this div should be treated as a button
by assistive technologies like screen readers.

In this PR I'm optimizing a whole RecordTableCell in real conditions
with a complex RelationFieldDisplay component :
- Broke down getObjectRecordIdentifier into multiple utils
- Precompute memoized function for getting chip data per field with
useRecordChipDataGenerator()
- Refactored RelationFieldDisplay
- Use CSS modules where performance is needed instead of styled
components
- Create a CSS theme with global CSS variables to be used by CSS modules
New strategy:
- add settings field on FieldMetadata. Contains a boolean isIdField and
for numbers, a precision
- if idField, the graphql scalar returned will be a GraphQL id. This
will allow the app to work even for ids that are not uuid
- remove globals dateScalar and numberScalar modes. These were not used
- set limit as Integer
- check manually in query runner mutations that we send a valid id
Todo left:
- remove WorkspaceBuildSchemaOptions since this is not used anymore.
Will do in another PR

1/ When the user inputs wrong connection informations, we do not inform
him. He will only see that no tables are available.
We will display a connection failed status if an error is raised testing
the connection
2/ If the connection fails, it should still be possible to delete the
server. Today, since we try first to delete the tables, the connection
failure throws an error that will prevent server deletion. Using the
foreign tables instead of calling the distant DB.
3/ Redirect to connection show page instead of connection list after
creation
4/ Today, foreign tables are fetched without the server name. This is a
mistake because we need to know which foreign table is linked with which
server. Updating the associated query.
